I don't have a single one of my real world friends on Jaiku or Twitter, but somehow along the way I've picked up a number of new online friends. How I did it, beats me. I wasn't particularly aggressive about it. I just signed up and joined in and they found me. :-)

I'm finding it hard to get people to join (this or Twitter). Everyone seems content on Myspace, it's just not right!
